A Green Light for Green Courts?

A recent Cape Times report indicates that Water and Environmental Affairs Minister Bujelwa Sonjica would like to see specialised Environmental Courts to return to SA. Such a court was in place previously, however, only for a short period before it was shut down again. The Environmental Court which only dealt with environmental crimes and employed specialist court staff, has been shown to have a much higher success rate compared to environmental cases heard by the ordinary courts.
