Electricity tariff increase: Where does Renewable Energy Fit in?
The National Energy Regulator of SA (NERSA) is in the process of considering Eskom's proposed interim price increase application. Many questions, concerns and objections have been raised regarding the state utility's proposed increase. View FLOE's comments submitted to NERSA, here. In this Engineering News article, you will find some interesting statements regarding the obstacles Eskom is facing as well as some pertinent questions raised by stakeholders. In this Engineering News article, Cosatu asks NERSA to reject Eskom's tariff increase application and called for energy policy which makes heavy electricity users pay more and the poor pay less. In this Fin24 article (source: SAPA), a municipality calls the 34% interim price increase application "unlawful", and The Energy Intensive User Group (EIUG)calls for an audit of certain costs incurred by Eskom.
