This Engineering News article informs us that Kenana, Sudan's largest sugar company has
"begun exporting its first 5 million litres of ethanol to the European Union, at an initial price of around 450 euros a cubic metre". The article goes on to say that
"The factory uses by-products from Sudan's sugar industry to create a renewable energy source for a country whose economy is largely dependent on crude oil output of almost 500 000 barrels per day."
